The documents required for an application for permanent residence vary depending on the applicant’s current status of residence.
This page provides a general list of the required documents for the following four representative cases.
Please note that submitting a prescribed set of documents does not guarantee approval of an application for permanent residence.
Even when applicants apply from the same status of residence, the effective and appropriate supporting documents may vary depending on each applicant’s individual circumstances.

Certificate of Residence showing all members of the applicant’s household

③Copy of a business permit
④Written explanation of the applicant’s occupation and supporting documents
Resident Taxation Certificates, Resident Tax Payment Certificates, and documents proving payment for the most recent five years
Tax Payment Certificate covering the following five tax categories:
①Withholding Income Tax and Special Income Tax for Reconstruction
②Self-Assessed Income Tax and Special Income Tax for Reconstruction
③Consumption Tax and Local Consumption Tax
④Inheritance Tax
⑤Gift Tax
Response to Inquiry on Insured Person Records for the most recent two years
Copy of the Health Insurance Card
Copy of the National Health Insurance Card
